On Saturday night the Mission City Outlaws made the trek out to the Sungod Arena to take on the North Delta Devils. The Outlaws were looking to keep the winning ways going against a devils team who has had their fair share of troubles trying to get into the win column much like the Outlaws have had this young season.
In the first period the Outlaws controlled most of the play early on and were rewarded with a goal from Bryce Pisiak. Pisiak would use his big frame to power his way through 2 defenders in front of the net and forced the puck past the Devils goaltender and the Outlaws would take a 1-0 lead to the dressing room.
In an odd move by the Devils in the second, North Delta would find themselves short handed for delay of game as they seemed to be deliberately not on the ice surface to start the middle frame. But it didn’t seem to matter as on a broken play, the leading scorer for the devils, Colin Catchpole, would intercept a pass in the neutral zone and with a streaking Blake Gorrill going hard to the net, would receive the pass and tie things up early on in this one. Then at the 6:40 mark of the period the Devils would get their second short handed goal of the period in a row and take a 2-1 lead to the intermission.
To the final frame and the good hard play from the Devils would seem to be a little too much for the Outlaws to handle as they would fire their first even strength goal of the game and take the lead 3-1. But Mission City was not ready to roll over and with the goalie pulled for the extra attacker and the Devils with penalty troubles, the Outlaws would get back within one and it came of the stick of Kyle Baron who riffled one past Aulenback for a 3-2 score. The Outlaws would try a late push but it was to little too late and the Devils would take this game.
Will Latimer was the games 3rd star after turning away 48 of 51 shots. Very solid between the pipes for the Outlaws last night.
Their is one more game left on the road trip and it’s a date with the Delta Ice Hawks at the Ladner Leisure Centre on Tuesday night. 7:30pm puck drop.
As for now you’re up to date. See you at the rink.
