Home Woes Continue for Outlaws

Game #13 of the season for the Outlaws was not lucky as the team dropped another game on home ice.

The North Van Wolf Pack came to town on Thursday night for the first time this season and the Outlaws were looking for much of the same type of game they had in Delta on Tuesday night.  The first period did not start the way Mission City wanted, however it was a pretty entertaining 20 minutes.  The Wolf Pack were able to get on the board before the opening frame ended and the score was 1-0 going into the second period.

The Outlaws would come out of the gate hard in the middle stanza and just 17 seconds in were rewarded for their hard work as Colby Steen would take a pass from Cam Bertsch on a broken play and bury the puck over the shoulder of the North Van goalie.  Then after the halfway point of the game the Outlaws would take the lead with a wrap around goal by Bryce Pisiak.  Then the Wolf Pack would answer back and tie things up.  Setting the stage for a great finale, or so we thought.

In the third, the Outlaws would go back to the way they played in the start of the first and would be caught on their heals and just 2:12 seconds in to the final frame, the Wolf Pack would take the lead again off the stick of Otis Goldman.  Then just 18 seconds later Jonathan Philley would uncharacteristically cough up the puck in his own side of the blue line right on to the stick of Goldman and he took it right in and gets his second of the shift and the game.  Then things came right off the rails for the Outlaws.  The team looked defeated and there was still 17 and a half minutes to go in the game.  The Wolf Pack would add another as Jamie Creamore would riffle a hard shot past Jeff Veitch to make it 5-2.  With the goalie pulled for the extra attacker Goldman would put it in the empty net for the hat trick and the Wolf Pack would take this one by the final score of 6-2.

With the loss the Outlaws still stay only 2 points behind Ridge Meadows as the Flames lost last night to the Richmond Sockeyes.  Mission City now has a week off to try and figure things out before they host the #1 overall Delta Ice hawks at the Mission Leisure Centre next Thursday.  If the game on Tuesday is any indication of what to expect, you will not want to miss this one.

As for now you’re up to date.  See you at the rink.
