Tonight will mark the first meeting of the season between the Mission City Outlaws and the Richmond Sockeyes. These 2 teams will meet each other twice this month.
The Outlaws and the Sockeyes are on different sides of the standings spectrum in their respective conferences. The Sockeyes are sitting in 2nd in the Tom Shaw Conference with a record of 8-3-2-3 for 21 points and the Outlaws are in sole possession of 4th place in the Harold Brittain with a record of 3-8-2-2 for 10 points.
The Outlaws are coming off a 4-4 tie last night in Aldergrove. There were a lot of positives to be taken out of that game last night. Defense did a great job of forcing the Kodiaks to take shots from the point or the outside and Goal tending took care of the rest with a solid performance between the pipes by Jeff Veitch. Cam Bertsch also seemed to find his scoring touch as well and the Outlaws will need a guy like him to contribute each game going further.
Who to watch for:
Mission City – Cam Bertsch – Bertsch seems to have found his groove the last couple games potting 2 goals last night in a 4-4 tie.
Richmond – Jackson Waniek – Since coming over to the Sockeyes in a trade at the halfway point of the season Waniek has been on a tear registering 7 goals and 4 assists in the last 8 games.
As this will be the first meeting of the season between these 2 clubs we can expect a little bit of a feeling out process. Which team will strike first will be the question tonight.
