Saturday night in North Vancouver, it was much of the same for the Mission City Outlaws as they faced the North Vancouver Wolf Pack. Much of the same because the Outlaws had trouble closing out the game strong in the 3rd period.
The Outlaws did not get off to the start that the coaching staff was looking for as Mission City surrendered 5 power plays to the Wolf Pack. Luckily for the Outlaws, they only got burned on one of those penalties. Mission City would have a better second period and would capitalize on the Wolf Pack being undisciplined and the Outlaws tallied 2 goals and took the lead going into the final frame. For the third game in a row, the Outlaws would take early period penalties that cost them dearly. The Wolf Pack would score 3 unanswered to take the game by a final score of 4-2.
The Outlaws dropped their fifth straight game. It didn’t hurt them in the standings though, as the Port Moody Panthers were shut out on Home ice on Saturday by the Aldergrove Kodiaks so Mission City still sits 2 points ahead of the Panthers in the Harold Brittain Conference with 3 games in hand.
The Outlaws will have a busy week of practice ahead of them as they prepare for the final 2 games this week before the Christmas break. The Ridge Meadows Flames are in the Mission Leisure Centre on Thursday night and then the Outlaws have a date with the Abbotsford Pilots on Friday at the MSA Arena. Huge opportunity to put things back on track this week as Mission City has defeated both opponents this season. Could you think of a better Christmas gift?
As for now you’re up to date. See you at the rink.
