Tonight the Ridge Meadows Flames come to town to renew their rivalry with the Mission City Outlaws. This will mark just the 3rd time this season that these 2 teams have met and the Outlaws have both wins in the previous 2 meetings.
Although the Outlaws and the Flames have not faced each other much this season, Mission City and Ridge Meadows will play against each other 4 times in the last 17 regular season games. For the Outlaws, these remaining games are critical for the points in the Harold Brittain Conference Standings to make a real push for the post season.
The Flames have really turned it up as of late as they are currently on a 3 game win streak and have started to separate themselves from the pack forming at the bottom of the division. The Outlaws have the Panthers nipping at their heals as Mission City is ahead by 2 points but also have 3 games in hand. For my money, the Outlaws could have won any of the past 3 games.
Who to watch for:
Mission City – Cam Bertsch – Bertsch has 1 point in is past 5 games but has been coming close to finding the back of the net again. A breakout game may just be around the corner tonight against the Flames.
Ridge Meadows – Travis Oddy – Oddy has 3 points in the last 3 games for the Flames and leads the team in scoring with 26 points.
With just 2 games remaining before the Christmas break, staying out of the penalty box is going to mean a difference of winning and losing for the team this week and finishing off strong. Not to look past tonight’s game, but 4 points for Christmas would be a welcome addition for the entire club and it is very doable.
This will be the last home game before the Christmas break so come on down to the Mission Leisure Centre tonight. Face off at 7:15 PM. If you can’t make it out to the rink, you can catch all the action on fasthockey.com PPV or listen for FREE on our MixLR.com channel with the pre game show beginning at 7:05 PM.
As for now you’re up to date. See you at the rink.
