Biggest game of the year!!! That pretty much sums it up for the Mission City Outlaws going into tonight’s game against the Port Moody Panthers at the Port Moody Arena.
The Outlaws still find themselves on the outside looking in trailing 1 point to the Panthers for the final playoff spot in the Harold Brittain Conference. Although the post season picture will not be 100% clear at the conclusion of this game, morale with 2 young hockey clubs, you would have to think, would be considerable.
There are other story lines that could take place tonight for the Mission City Outlaws. Ending a 3 game losing skid would be at the top of the list for this team moving forward. Another story line would be to see if the team could score more especially on the power play. The team has only 4 goals in their last 3 games and are 0 for 11 on the power play during that time as well.
The Panthers will be looking to extend their winning streak to 4 games tonight and also extend their lead in the standings to 3 points but the Mission City Outlaws still have one game in hand.
Who to watch for:
Mission City – Brody Dyck – The coaching staff were very pleased on how Dyck played on the penalty kill on Thursday night against the Abbotsford Pilots. Dyck and his line mate, Bakshi Gill and Bryce Pisiak will be called upon a lot tonight from the coach’s.
Port Moody – Kurt Sonne – Sonne has racked up 6 points this season when facing the Mission City Outlaws and had the lone goal in a losing cause the last time these teams met.
There will be no need for Mission City fans to cut their nails tonight as I’m sure there will be a lot of nail biting to go around. In all seriousness. The chips are down and the team knows this and with the talent pool each young team has, should make for a great game.
