Weekly Wrap Up!!! Let the Beards Grow

Well it came right down to the wire for the Mission City Outlaws to secure a playoff spot and it took back to back wins to do so.  The Outlaws will now face the Aldergrove Kodiaks in the 1st round of the PJHL post season.

The best of 7 series is set to start on Tuesday February 18th at the Mission Leisure Centre.  Now I know you may be asking why game #1 is being played at the MLC instead of the Aldergrove Community Arena?  The answer is quite an easy one.  Due to the fact that Mission City is hosting the BC Winter games, the availability for ice had to be scheduled carefully and the Kodiaks were very helpful in making this happen.  As the whole schedule has not been released yet I can confirm the first 2 games in the series.  Mark these 2 games on your schedule:

Game #1

Vs.  Aldergrove – 7:30 PM @ Mission Leisure Centre

Game #2

@ Aldergrove – 7:15 PM @ Aldergrove Community Arena

Game #3 to 7 have not been announced yet and I will post as soon as they come available.

Now that the Playoff picture has fully developed, lets run down how the final game went down.  The Mission City Outlaws hosted the North Vancouver Wolf Pack on Thursday night at the Mission Leisure Centre.  The Wolf Pack decided that they would dress 5 affiliate players and rest 8 regulars for the playoffs as they already had a spot secured.  The Outlaws would take full advantage of this opportunity and with the drive and hard work the team has displayed the last month, would turn into results as they were able to take a 4-0 lead into the 3rd period.   With the shutout looming, the Wolf Pack would get 1 past Bryce Phenix ruining the bid for the seasons only shutout, but Mission City would get it right back on a goal from David McGowan and giving the Outlaws a 5-1 victory.

The very bright side for the Outlaws moving forward is that the team is starting to click on the power play going 5 for 11 with the man advantage the last 2 games and the team will need to keep this going to take advantage of the Kodiaks through the first round.

It has been a fun 44 game regular season and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Owner, Scott Kieler.  Coach’s, Brad Veitch, Mike Drouillard and Danny Hall.  The Players.  The Volunteers and the fans for a fantastic 2013/14 season and many more games to come from the post season.

The slate is clean!!! Let the games begin.

As for now you’re up to date.  See you at the rink.
