Finally it’s Mission City Outlaws game day. After 5 months, a prospects showcase, training camp and 3 preseason games, the games start for real tonight and the road to the Cyclone Taylor Cup begins as the Outlaws get set to take on the Langley Knights at the George Preston Recreation Centre.
The Outlaws staff were very busy in the off season adding key parts to the lineup and building a good base around the foundation of the core returning players from last season.
As it was announced in March that Mission City would host the Cyclone Taylor Cup, the Outlaws will get a “bye” into the tournament just for hosting but the main consensus from everyone involved around the team is to get there through the front door so to speak.
The first opponent on the road is the old North Delta Devils turned Langley Knights. These 2 teams met in exhibition play last week which saw the Outlaws come out on top with a 6-5 victory but it didn’t come easy. Penalty trouble almost cost Mission City in the late stages and the team knows that they can’t repeat the penalty issues from last year.
Who to watch for:
Mission City – Jacob Kranabetter – Kranabetter spent last season in California but the Mission native is going to fit in nicely to fill holes in the line up where offense has been lacking with some great puck smarts.
Langley – Levi De Waal – De Waal is one of only five returning players from last years Devils team and they will be looking to his leadership to help turn the ship in the right direction from not making playoffs last season
The Outlaws have matured greatly since last season and has shown in their play in exhibition. Returning players will be expected to lead by example and the coaching staff seems to have the guys poised and ready to get things started for real.
Just like last season, every game will be available for FREE on our audio only channel at Mixlr.com starting tonight with the pregame show beginning at 7:20 PM and the puck will drop around 7:30 PM.
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!
As for now you’re up to date. See you at the rink.
