It was a win and a loss for the Mission City Outlaws as the team play the Aldergrove Kodiaks and the Abbotsford Pilots.
On Wednesday the Outlaws made the first trip of the season to the Aldergrove Community Arena to take on the Aldergrove Kodiaks. The team was looking to be a little more disciplined as they know 5 on 5 they can compete each and every night throughout the season with any opponent. Mission City was able to, for the most part, only give up 4 power plays to the opposition but the downside, and the only one for that matter, was that they did let 2 goals on the 4 attempts the Kodiaks had.
The Outlaws did a good job blocking shots and firing as much rubber as they could at Kodiaks goalie Griffin Baillie finding the back of the net 4 times and adding an empty netter for a 5-2 victory.
Brimming with confidence, Mission City was set to host the Abbotsford Pilots on Saturday night at the Mission Leisure Centre. There was no shortage of story lines coming into this game but the main story was the winner would leap frog into 1st place in the Harold Brittain Conference.
The Outlaws, for the 2nd straight game, got on the board first. Mission City would control majority of the momentum but they couldn’t capitalize on their scoring chances as Pilots goaltender, Jacob Crawford, was a brick wall between the pipes and the difference maker as he led his team to a 3-2 victory over the Mission City Outlaws.
The Outlaws will have another busy 2 game week as they will play on Tuesday at the temporary home of the Delta Ice Hawks at the South Delta Recreation Centre followed by a tilt with the Ridge Meadows Flames at the MLC on Saturday.
As Saturday will mark the quarter mark of the season, now is the time to start stringing together a run of wins. It’s time that one of the teams in the conference starts breaking away from the rest of the pack and why not that be the Mission City Outlaws.
As for now you’re up to date. See you at the rink.
