It was only a 1 game week for the Mission City Outlaws and the team was looking to capitalize on an opportunity to not only move up in the standings but string together a few wins in a row when they faced the Langley Knights on Saturday night at the Mission Leisure Centre. Unfortunately for Outlaws fans, the team was not able to achieve this goal.
The bright side for the Outlaws was that some players who were nursing some injuries were able to recover and made their way back into the lineup on Saturday.
Mission City would open the scoring in the 1st off a goal from Hayden Mowbray. On a sharp angle Mowbray was able to spot an opening on the far side on goaltender Nick Trenciansky. Kyle Westeringh would put the Outlaws up by 2 on a hard slapper that found its way under the left pad of the Knights goalie. This Outlaws last goal seemed to really wake up the Knights and the team from Langley had the Outlaws on their heels with big pressure when Tristan Craighead potted the first goal of the game for the Knights on a scramble in front of the Mission City net.
This would turn out to be the turning point for the game as the Knights would score 3 more times and Trenciansky would shut the door the rest of the way as Langley would extend their winning streak to 5 games and hand the Outlaws a 4-2 loss on home ice.
It was a real missed opportunity for Mission City as they now stay right where they are in 4th Place in the Harold Brittain Conference.
It won’t get any easier for the Outlaws this coming week as the team will make the trip out to the Minoru Arena in Richmond to take on the Sockeyes and then followed by a home date with the Delta Ice Hawks on Saturday.
As for now you’re up to date. See you at the rink.
