GAME DAY!!! Outlaws Host Port Moody Panthers

It will be the 2nd meeting in a row at the Mission Leisure Centre tonight when the Mission City Outlaws host the Port Moody Panthers.

Mission City took the first game of the back to back at the MLC pretty convincingly last Saturday night before the Christmas break 6-3 and improved their winning streak to 3 straight games.  The Outlaws have now outscored their opponents 17-8 in those games.

The Port Moody panthers remain at the bottom of the Tom Shaw Conference with a record of 6-23-0-1 for 13 points in 30 games played.  With the win last week, the Outlaws improved their record to 12-15-1-1 for 26 points in 29 games and now the Outlaws sit just 6 points behind 3rd place Langley Knights.

Team Bright Spots:

Mission City – The Bright spot for the Mission City Outlaws doesn’t rely on just one line but all 4 lines contributing on the offensive and defensive side of the puck.  The team starts in their own end fearlessly blocking shots and using the body to create open ice and then some quick passing with some quick releases, the puck finds its way into the back of the net.

Port Moody – The Panthers should give credit where credit is due and that should lie, for the most part, on the shoulders of the goal tending duo of Spencer Kozlowski and Kyle Cheema.  Both goalies do a great job making some timely saves to keep their team in most games this season.

Final Thoughts:

Since having a players only meeting a few weeks back, the Outlaws have really started to buy in to the coaching staff’s strategy of play.  Taking care of your own end first and playing a run and gun style of hockey is needed for success in the PJHL and Mission City is showing that they are more than capable of performing this task.

This will be the only game on the schedule in the league tonight so why not come down and enjoy some great Junior hockey at the MLC.  Game time is 6:45.  Tickets are $10 and under and can be purchased at the door.  Can’t make it out but still want to follow the action?  Make sure you tune into the game on either FastHockey Pay Per View or listen for FREE on our “AUDIO ONLY” Channel on or find the “LISTEN LIVE” link on our website at in the left hand menu.  Pregame show gets going at 6:35 PM.

As for now you’re up to date.  See you at the rink.
