The Mission City Outlaws have done it again. After falling behind one game to nothing, the local hockey squad won four straight games to eliminate the first place Aldergrove Kodiaks from the second round of the Pacific Junior Hockey League playoffs.
In the opening round, Mission fell behind two games to none, before earning four wins in a row to eliminate the second place Langley Knights.
Wednesday night’s clinching game was a tough match up as the Kodiaks were fighting for their playoff lives.
Aldergrove came out strong as Cameron Davit opened the scoring in the first minute.
Mission, as it has all through the post season, battled back to take a 2-1 lead at the end of the first, thanks to goals from Ram Brar and Bryce Pisiak.
In the second, Aldergrove began to push again, eventually taking a 3-2 lead into the third.
But it was all Mission after that.
Brendan Jay scored to tie the game up and then Pisiak got his second of the night to give the Outlaws the lead.
With the Aldergrove net empty, Tristan Dundas scored to put it away, 5-3, and the celebration was on.
Bryce Phenix was credited with the win in the Outlaws net, stopping 28 of the 31 shots he faced.
