For the first time this post season, the Mission City Outlaws were able to take the opening game of the series with a 4-3 come from behind victory in Game 1 of the PJHL Championship at the Harry Jerome Recreation Centre against the North Van Wolf Pack and now the series shifts to the Mission Leisure Centre tonight for Game 2.
The Outlaws found themselves on the wrong end of the scoreboard trailing 3-1 after the opening 20 minutes. But the resiliency of Mission City, which we’ve seen down the stretch and into the playoffs was a little more than the Wolf Pack could handle. The other side of the coin has to be the fact that North Van is too good a team to roll over and they will come back with an even stronger effort tonight.
The Wolf Pack showed on Monday night why they have the leagues best power play as they were 2 for 5 on the night and both goals came from the 20 year old line for North Van consisting of Spencer Quon, Mitch Crisanti, and Brodyn Nielsen. The Outlaws were just 1 for 10 with the man advantage.
With a strong finish to Game #1 for the Outlaws, the question mark has to be the slightly slow start out of the gate. The North Vancouver Wolf Pack have a knack for capitalizing on early opportunities from their opposition.
Fans are going to have to get to the MLC early if you want to get a good seat tonight. A BIG crowd is expected as the opening game was extremely entertaining. DON’T BE LEFT OUT!!!
