Preseason: Lesson Learned in Preseason Loss

It was not exactly the result the Mission City Outlaws were looking for when they took on the Comox Valley Glacier Kings on Saturday afternoon at the Comox Valley Sports Centre in Courtney.

The Outlaws had a 3-0 lead at one point in the game only to have it erased by a different looking lineup than what we saw last night for Glacier Kings, as they scored 5 unanswered goals and handed Mission City their first loss of the exhibition season.

If I was to put my finger on it, uncoordinated play and undisciplined penalties were the downfall of the Outlaws in this one.

A bright spot for the Outlaws was the play of veterans Bryce Pisiak on the front end as he had 2 goals in the loss and the good defensive play of Nick Thompson.  I spoke with Thompson after the game:

The lesson learned here for the Outlaws is that they are brought back to reality and can only get stronger from here.  Taking your opponent too lightly can and will cost you and Mission City is thanking their lucky stars that this happened in preseason.

The Outlaws will wrap up the trip to Vancouver Island with a trip to Nanaimo to take on the Buccaneers at 5:15 puck drop.  Catch all the action once again LIVE on our FREE ‘Audio Only’ channel at mixlr.com/outlawshockey with the pregame show beginning at 5:05 pm.

As for now you’re up to date.  See you at the rink.
