The final game of 3 that took place this past weekend on Vancouver Island against the Nanaimo Buccaneers was not exactly how the Outlaws were looking to end the road trip.
There could have been a few different factors as to why the team came out as flat as they did. One could be that the team had just played 2 intense games against a very good Comox Valley Glacier Kings team or it might have been the travel as Mission City arrived pretty early to the Nanaimo Ice Centre ahead of the game yesterday. Either way the Outlaws can’t dwell on a 8-0 loss especially in exhibition play. Mission City needs to learn from mistakes that were made and completely wipe the slate clean.
As there are still some decisions to be made as to who is going to make this squad come opening night, the performance from Sunday’s game really gave the coaching staff a look at which guys are ready to make the jump and which guys may still need to work on in order to move forward with their playing careers.
All in all it was a great weekend for the guys to get to know each other and bond as a team away from the arena. This can be a very good tool to a successful team moving forward.
The Outlaws preseason schedule will finish off with a game against the Langley Knights this Saturday Sept. 5th at the Mission Leisure Centre. Game time is 6:45 PM. This will be your last chance, fans, to see some of the future Outlaws and prospects so come on out and enjoy the game.
As for now you’re up to date. See you at the rink.
