Nate Castonguay and Bryce Pisiak added a pair of goals each and Kyle Lennea and Justin Bowerman added singles as the Mission City Outlaws routed the visiting Langley Knights at the Mission Leisure Centre on Saturday night 6-1.
For Castonguay, it was the first 2 goals of the 2015/16 campaign and the rookie forward has been playing some of his best hockey in an Outlaws jersey as of late. Bryce Pisiak is on a roll of his own as his 2 goals last night gives him a league leading 28 goals. Pisiak now has goals in all but 5 games this season.
Jeff Veitch was able to turn aside 18 of 19 shots sent his way and has now recorded 3 straight victories out of the 4 games he’s played between the pipes since returning from a stint in the Junior A Ranks. Veitch also sits first in goaltenders for the entire league with an astonishing 2.03 goals against average and a .932 save percentage which he shares with fellow Outlaws net minder Gunner Neilsen.
With last nights victory, Mission City extends their lead atop the Harold Brittain Conference Standings with a 8 point cushion over the Abbotsford Pilots as the Outlaws have a record of 17-3-0-1 for 35 points in 21 games and show no signs of slowing down.
The Outlaws next game doesn’t come until this Friday when they make the trip down the Lougheed Hwy to visit the Cam Neely Arena in Maple Ridge to take on the Ridge Meadows Flames. The Flames have points in their last 4 games and will look to continue their strong play.
