The Mission City Outlaws were in search of their 6th straight victory on Saturday night at the Mission Leisure Centre when they hosted the Ridge Meadows Flames.
The Outlaws were able to get on the board early in the first period and would never relinquish the lead as they cruised to a 5-0 victory over the Flames.
The penalty kill was the main key for the Outlaws as they were able to stop all 7 chances on the Power Play that the Flames had throughout the game including holding Ridge Meadows to just one shot during the 5 minute major penalty that Tyler Wickman received late in the 2nd period.
Goal tending was also a bright spot for Mission City as newcomer Josh Matzek turned aside all 25 shots he faced. Matzek, in just his second start since joining the Outlaws has only one goal against.
With just 6 games remaining in the regular season the Outlaws have found themselves atop the PJHL again as they have a record of 26-11-0-1 for 53 points and are tied with the North Van Wolf Pack.
The Outlaws will need to keep this torrid pace going strong as they are in tough against the Abbotsford Pilots on Friday night at the MSA Arena and then hosting the Grandview Steelers on Saturday night at the Mission Leisure Centre.
As for now you’re up to date. See you at the rink.
