It was not the result that the Mission City Outlaws were looking for on Friday afternoon when they faced the hard working and physical KIJHL Champions, the 100 Mile House Wranglers in Cyclone Taylor Cup action.
The Outlaws came out with a physical game to start things off but it was the Wranglers who got on the board first with a goal from Nick McCabe. 100 Mile would take a 2-0 lead going into the first intermission off a strange goal that rolled down the back of Jeff Veitch and into the net where Alex Hanson was credited with the goal. Outlaws did manage to light the lamp in the 2nd when the Captain David McGowan went short side with a rocket but that would be the closest the Outlaws would get in this contest.
Both Goaltenders were outstanding in this game as Zane Steeves for the Wranglers was the difference maker turning aside 49 out of 50 shots he faced from the Outlaws. Veitch was not to be outdone by his counterpart as there was a slight edge in scoring chances for 100 Mile House stopping 38 of 40. I caught up with Jeff after the game and here is what he had to say about the 2-1 loss:
Mission City will have another tough contest tonight as they face the host team the Victoria Cougars at the Archie Browning Arena. Stay tuned to the Outlaws Broadcast Network for the Pregame show coming later today as I get you setup for the game. It’s a 7:30 start.
As for now you’re up to date. See you at the rink.
